Proposed Statewide Coastal Marina Permit

The California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) is moving forward with a proposed statewide requirement that marinas and yacht clubs with 10 or more slips and moorings obtain a state permit (termed a Coastal Marina Permit) and comply with many new requirements including extensive testing and reporting at a projected annual cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) is working on this critical issue in cooperation with allied partners such as BoatUS, California Yacht Brokers Association, Marina and Recreation Association, etc.  The SWRCB plans to conduct stakeholder workshops in March, to receive public comments in April, and to vote upon the permit in November of this year.  The exact dates and locations of the workshops have not yet been set, but plans are for workshops to be held in San Diego, Ventura and San Francisco.

BYC Members are asked to become familiar with the proposal and its impact.   Pertinent documents and valuable information is available at www.swrcb.ca.gov and at www.rboc.org.  As more information is released, we will pass it on to our Members as well as have it available at the club, or online.

Bayside Drive Closure

A major sewer repair project is underway that affects the traffic and parking on Bayside Drive, in front of the club  You will only be able to access the club parking lot from the west, and when exiting the club, you will need to turn right, following the detour signs.

During construction, there is limited street parking available along this section of Bayside Drive, and the project is scheduled to run through April.  Please be respectful of your fellow club members and remember that parking in the club North and South parking lots are for registered member’s cars only.

We will attempt to keep you informed of any issues that will result from this major project.

See you at the club!
