Team BYC's Double Handed Program is a race focused program working toward High Performance classes. Sailors develop base skills in the CFJ and the C420. These classes have big fleets in local regattas and up to a national level. Once sailors have established base level skills they can begin participating in our High Performance classes such at the I420. Each year in the I420 and 29er one male team and one female team is selected to represent USA at the World Sailing Youth Worlds. This program prepares sailors for US Youth Champs and the World Championships. To participate in our Double Handed program sailors must have a partner to sail with and be accepted into the program. BYC provide boats however to compete at the top level sailors will need to purchase their own boats. Teams need to provide their own harness for C420 and I420.

The information on this page is for Team BYC. For information on Learn to Sail and Social sailing programs that are running visit the Spring, Fall and Summer program pages.

Out of SoCal Regattas

On top of our program, our Double Handed team has the opportunity to race in regattas around USA and Internationally. These regattas come at an additional cost to the program fees. We have a funding scheme through Team BYC so all sailors representing the team will have standardized coaching fees per day.

Extra sessions

When we see good breeze on the forecast we will try to add extra sessions. These normally occur in the winter between November and March. They normally come with short notice. They are added to the app so you can RSVP. We use these sessions to target big breeze, big waves, or offshore shifty winds. Sailors that are 'All In' can join these sessions at no extra cost. Sessions are open to all ocean classes.
